THE ROAD TO EMMAUS
APRIL 20 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.
Read Together: Luke 24:13-35 CSB
This Easter we explored the story of two disciples walking the road to Emmaus. Though Jesus had risen, they were still stuck in crisis, grief, and confusion. But Jesus met them right where they were. He walked with them, talked with them, and ultimately opened their eyes to recognize Him. Their story reminds us that Jesus still walks with us today — even when we don’t see it clearly at first.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.
Where do you find yourself on the journey right now — in crisis, curiosity, or clarity — and how might Jesus be walking with you in it?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.
- Jesus Meets Us in Crisis:
- The disciples were discouraged and walking away from Jerusalem. When have you felt like giving up or walking away? How might Jesus have been present with you even in that moment?
- Get Curious:
- The disciples didn’t recognize Jesus right away but invited Him in for a meal. Where might God be inviting you to stay curious and continue the conversation with Him even if you don’t have clarity yet?
- Clarity Comes Through Communion:
- The moment of recognition came when Jesus broke the bread. Where in your life do you need clarity right now, and how might spiritual practices like prayer, Scripture, or communion help open your eyes?
Pray Together:
Take time to pray with and for each other.
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
- Thank Jesus for walking with you through seasons of confusion and doubt.
- Ask Him to open your eyes and give clarity where you feel lost.
- Pray for a deeper awareness of His presence, especially for those in your Group feeling discouraged or distant.
Next Steps:
Choose one way to respond to Jesus this week — maybe it’s choosing to trust Him in a place of crisis, asking deeper questions in a season of curiosity, or sharing a testimony in a moment of clarity. Share with your Group and follow up together.
