The Slow Drift Wake Up Call
May 3 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together.
If you’re launching a new Group, trust and friendship take time to build. Take turns each week having someone share a bit of their story.

Read Together: Galatians 5:1–12 CSB
In this passage, Paul gives a wake-up call to the Galatians who were experiencing a slow drift away from the true Gospel. What started as a subtle shift—adding something small to faith in Jesus—was actually pulling them off course. Paul makes it clear: you can’t add to the Gospel without changing it. The invitation is to wake up, recognize the drift, and stand firm in the freedom Jesus has already given—because Jesus is enough.
The One Question:
If you only have time for one question, ask this one.
Where might there be a slow drift in your own life?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your Group or for personal reflection.
- What sticks out to you from the Galatians passage?
- Paul warns that “a little leaven leavens the whole batch of dough.” What do you think that means in the context of faith and the Gospel?
- Why is it often hard to notice spiritual drift while it’s happening?
- Pastor Sean emphasized that drift happens when we stop paying attention. What helps you stay alert and anchored in the truth of the Gospel?
- Read verse 5 again. What do you think it looks like to "eagerly await...the hope of righteousness"?
Pray Together:
- Thank Jesus for the freedom He has already secured for you.
- Confess any areas where you’ve drifted and made small compromises.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to help you recognize subtle drift in your heart and life.
- Ask God to help you stand firm in freedom in Him, our solid Rock.
Next Steps:
- Do a “drift audit”: Ask yourself, Where have I made subtle shifts away from trusting Jesus alone?
- Stay anchored: Re-read Galatians 5:1 this week and reflect on what it means to truly stand firm.
- Invite someone in: Share one area of drift with a trusted friend and ask them to help you stay grounded.
- Slow down and pay attention: Build a simple daily moment (even 2–3 minutes) to check in with God and realign your heart.
