Hey there.

NO FRILLS

MAY 25 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.

Read Together: Acts 2:37-41 CSB

After Peter preaches the gospel at Pentecost, the people are “pierced to the heart.” They respond by asking, “What should we do?” Peter’s answer outlines the foundation of the Church’s mission and growth: Repent. Be baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit. That day, 3,000 were added to their number. There were no gimmicks, just the gospel.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.

Where is God calling you to go “all in” with Him right now?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.

  1. “What should we do?” — Have you ever felt pierced to the heart like the crowd in Acts 2?
    • When was a time you felt convicted by God? What did you do in response?
    • Application: Reflect on whether there’s anything God is currently prompting you to act on (repentance, forgiveness, obedience).
  2. Peter’s first step was repentance — What does repentance look like in your life right now?
    • Are there any “U-turns” you feel called to make — in your habits, relationships, or mindset?
    • Application: Choose one concrete area this week where you’ll intentionally turn away from sin and toward Jesus.
  3. Peter also said, “Be baptized.” Have you fully identified with Jesus in your life?
    • What might be holding you back from going “all in” with Jesus — in public or in private?
    • Application: Ask yourself, “Is there a part of my life I’ve kept off-limits to Jesus?” and consider surrendering it this week.
  4. “Receive the Holy Spirit” — How do you experience the Spirit’s power in your daily life?
    • Do you depend on the Spirit for strength and guidance, or are you trying to follow Jesus in your own effort?
    • Application: Start each day this week with a prayer inviting the Holy Spirit to fill you and guide you.
  5. The early church grew through simple faithfulness — Are you living a “no-frills” faith?
    • Are you tempted to focus on appearance or comfort more than obedience and truth?
    • Application: Identify one person in your life who doesn’t know Jesus and begin praying for them by name — asking for opportunities to share the real message of the gospel.

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.

Suggested Prayer Prompts:
  • Thank God for the simplicity and power of the gospel.
  • Confess where you've been living halfway or distracted from God's call.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to convict, fill, and empower each person in your group.
  • Pray for the next generation and for your example to help others come to know Jesus.
