WHICH PATH ARE YOU ON?
JULY 13 | Discipleship Guide
Be Real Together:
Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.
Read Together: PSALM 1 CSB
Psalm 1 sets the tone for the entire Psalms by laying out a simple but profound truth: there are two paths. One leads to rootedness, life, and blessing. The other leads to instability, rootlessness, and ruin. The key difference? Delight in and meditation on the Lord’s instruction. This psalm points us to the one true righteous man—Jesus—and invites us to live in His way.
The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.
Where in your life are you currently following your own way instead of delighting in the Lord’s instruction?
Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.
- Two Paths:
- Psalm 1 paints a picture of two roads. Which path do you sense you’re currently walking—and why?
- Rooted and Fruitful:
- The righteous person is like a tree planted by streams of water. What rhythms or spiritual practices help you stay rooted in God?
- Delight or Duty?
- Do you approach Scripture more like a duty or a delight right now? What would help shift your heart toward delight?
- Jesus, the Righteous One:
- The sermon reminded us that Psalm 1 is ultimately about Jesus. How does knowing you stand in His righteousness (not your own) impact your spiritual confidence and growth?
- Fruit That Blesses Others:
- What kind of fruit do you hope God produces in your life this season—and how can your group support that growth?
Pray Together:
Take time to pray with and for each other.
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
Suggested Prayer Prompts:
- Thank God for the gift of His Word and His Son.
- Confess where you’ve ignored God’s instruction or chosen the easier path.
- Ask the Holy Spirit to plant you deeply and help you bear lasting fruit.
- Pray for one another to walk closely with Jesus and grow in delight for His Word.
Next Steps:
Pick one way to actively “delight in the Lord’s instruction” this week:
- Commit to a simple daily Scripture reading practice (even 5 minutes a day).
- Memorize Psalm 1 or another Psalm.
- Journal each day where you’re seeing the fruit of God—or where you’re feeling dry.
