Hey there.

OH GOD, YOU KNOW ME

JULY 27 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.

Read Together: Psalm 139 CSB

Psalm 139 is a deeply personal reflection from David, marveling at God's intimate knowledge, constant presence, and intentional creation of us. Rather than a reason to fear, David finds comfort in being fully known by God—the good, the bad, and everything in between. This psalm invites us to live openly and honestly before God, allowing Him to search our hearts and lead us in His way.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.

If God knows everything about you—your thoughts, your struggles, your past—how does that shape your relationship with Him?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.

  1. God Knows Us Intimately: How do you respond to the idea that God knows your every thought and action—even the things no one else sees?
  2. God Surrounds Us Presently: When you’ve felt like hiding from God (because of guilt, fear, or shame), what helps draw you back into His presence?
  3. God Created Us Intentionally: What does it mean to you that God knit you together with care and purpose—even before you were born?
  4. God Thinks of Us Constantly: How would your day-to-day life change if you truly believed God is always mindful of you?
  5. God Aligns Us Righteously: Are there any beliefs, relationships, or behaviors in your life that aren’t aligned with God's heart? How can your group support you in surrendering those?
  6. God Searches Us Thoroughly: What would it look like to regularly pray, “Search me, God, and know my heart”? Is there anything you need to bring honestly before Him today?

Pray Together:

Take time to pray with and for each other.

Suggested Prayer Prompts:
  • Thank God for knowing you completely and still loving you deeply.
  • Invite Him to search your heart, reveal anything offensive, and lead you in His way.
  • Ask for courage to walk in transparency and holiness.
  • Pray for one another to grow in awareness of God’s presence and delight in His Word.

Next Steps:

Choose one way to practice confident trust in God this week:
  • Memorize Psalm 139:23–24 this week:
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns. See if there is any offensive way in me; lead me in the everlasting way.”
  • Take a walk or quiet moment alone to reflect on how God sees and knows you.
  • Start journaling one honest prayer a day, modeled after David’s raw and real connection with God.
