Hey there.

AN UNWORRIED MIND

September 14 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together. Trust and friendship take time to build. If you’re launching a new DG, one person should tell their story — what do we need to know about you? Next week, have another person in your DG share their story.

Read Together: Philippians 4:6-9 CSB

In a world filled with chaos, uncertainty, and tragedy, Paul gives believers a radical invitation: don’t worry about anything. Instead, we are called to pray, think differently, and model our lives after those who follow Christ faithfully. When we bring our worries to God, fill our minds with what is true, honorable, and pure, and walk in the example of Christlike leaders, God gives us peace that goes beyond understanding.

The One Question:
Ask this question at your family meal or Discipleship Group.

Where do you most need God’s peace to guard your heart and mind right now?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your DG or for personal study.

  1. Pray About It
Paul says to bring everything to God in prayer. How often do you process your worries with God instead of just with others or online? What could it look like to pray more honestly this week?
  2. Think About Your Thoughts
What thoughts have been running on repeat in your mind lately? Do they align with what Paul calls us to dwell on (true, honorable, pure, lovely, praiseworthy)? How can you begin to redirect those thought patterns toward Christ?
  3. Follow Faithful Examples
Who in your life models what it looks like to follow Jesus with peace and trust? What could you learn from their example—and who might be learning from you?
  4. Peace Beyond Understanding
Paul says God’s peace will guard our hearts and minds. Have you ever experienced peace that didn’t make sense in your circumstances? Share what that was like.

Pray Together:

  • Thank God for being a Father who listens when we pray.
  • Confess areas where worry has taken root instead of trust.
  • Ask God to renew your mind and give you thoughts that honor Him.
  • Pray for one another to walk in God’s peace this week.

Next Steps:

  • Set aside 5 minutes a day this week to bring your worries to God in prayer.
  • Memorize Philippians 4:6–7 and practice reciting it when worry creeps in.
  • Identify one faithful person you can learn from or spend time with this week.
