Hey there.

Reap, Sow, Don’t Give Up

May 17 | Discipleship Guide

Be Real Together:

Take a few minutes to catch up, tell stories, and laugh together.
If you’re launching a new Group, trust and friendship take time to build. Take turns each week having someone share a bit of their story.

Read Together: Galatians 6 CSB

In Galatians 6, Paul reminds us that the direction of our lives is shaped by the seeds we sow. Every thought, habit, relationship, and decision is planting something that will eventually produce a harvest. We can sow to the flesh—feeding compromise, self-centeredness, and drift—or we can sow to the Spirit by walking in obedience, staying rooted in the Gospel, and investing in what matters most. The good news is that because of Jesus, we are not trapped by yesterday’s failures. In Christ, we are a new creation, and as we faithfully sow into the Spirit, God promises a harvest in His timing. Don’t give up. Stay rooted in the cross. Keep walking with Jesus.

The One Question:
If you only have time for one question, ask this one.

What kind of harvest are you sowing toward with the choices and patterns in your life right now?

Grow Together:
Use these questions to go deeper with your Group or for personal reflection.

  1. What stands out to you most from Galatians 6?
  2. Paul says, “whatever a person sows he will also reap.” Why do you think God designed life and spiritual growth this way?
  3. Paul calls believers to restore others gently and carry one another’s burdens. Why is community such an important part of sowing to the Spirit?
  4. Pastor Sean talked about the importance of both carrying one another’s burdens and carrying our own load. Why are both necessary for spiritual maturity?
  5. Paul says, “what matters instead is a new creation.” How does remembering your identity in Christ help you resist performance, comparison, or compromise?
  6. What does it look like practically to “stay rooted in the cross” instead of slipping into “try harder” Christianity?
  7. Galatians 6:9 says not to grow weary in doing good. Where are you most tempted to give up, grow cynical, or stop sowing faithfully?
  8. What is one area where you sense God inviting you to sow more intentionally into the Spirit in this season?

Pray Together:

  • Thank Jesus that through the Gospel, your past failures do not have the final word.
  • Confess any ways you’ve been sowing to the flesh through compromise, distraction, bitterness, or self-reliance.
  • Ask the Holy Spirit to help you sow into what produces lasting spiritual fruit.
  • Pray for strength to not grow weary in doing good, even when growth feels slow.
  • Ask God to help your Group become people who carry burdens, restore gently, and stay rooted in the cross.

Next Steps:

  • Do a seed inventory: Ask yourself honestly, What am I consistently sowing into right now? What kind of harvest is that producing?
  • Identify one small compromise: Bring it into the light and take one practical step toward repentance and change this week.
  • Sow into relationships: Encourage, check in on, or pray for another believer this week—especially someone who may be struggling.
  • Carry your own load: Identify one responsibility or area of growth you need to stop avoiding and begin stewarding faithfully.
  • Boast in the cross: Take a few minutes each day to reflect on what Jesus has accomplished for you rather than focusing on performance or appearance.
