Church At The River | Sermon Notes
"Everything Belongs to Him"
Pastor Sean Gasperetti
Psalm 24 CSb
1 The earth and everything in it,
the world and its inhabitants,
belong to the Lord;
2 for he laid its foundation on the seas
and established it on the rivers.
3 Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who has not appealed to what is false,
and who has not sworn deceitfully.
5 He will receive blessing from the Lord,
and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 Such is the generation of those who inquire of him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Selah
7 Lift up your heads, you gates!
Rise up, ancient doors!
Then the King of glory will come in.
8 Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, you gates!
Rise up, ancient doors!
Then the King of glory will come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord of Armies,
he is the King of glory. Selah

"There is something about human beings -- we all love the feeling of being in control. There's a sense of pride that comes from really owning something or being on top.
However, there are limitations...lots of them, actually. For as many moments in this life that we feel like we're in control, there are far more situations that remind us otherwise."

1. god rules over all things. (vs. 1-2)
Earth - 'ereṣ (air-etz) — physical land and terrain (emphasis on creation, geography)
World -tēḇēl (tay-vel) - inhabited world, society (emphasis on people, culture, nations)

2. god receives the righteous (vs. 3-6)
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23 CSB)
"He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5;21 CSB)
"He made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." (2 Corinthians 5;21 CSB)
3. god reigns in the hearts of the righteous (vs. 7-10)
"And let the peace of Christ, to which you were also called in one body, rule your hearts. And be thankful." (Colossians 3:15 CSB)
Where in my life is God asking to reign? Where is He knocking, saying, "let the King of glory in?"
